Keren Hishtalmut: the 6-year clock
What this tool tells you
The clock shows how much of the six years have passed since the first deposit into a Keren Hishtalmut, and what changes at the milestone. According to our guide, withdrawing before the period ends is usually treated as a non-exempt withdrawal, and the tax benefit applies once the period is complete.

How it is calculated
There is no financial formula here. The tool maps time: it assumes one deposit in every month and draws 72 dots, one for each month of the six years, and marks how many have passed according to the slider. You can also play the clock as an animation.
progress = years elapsed / 6
milestone reached when years elapsed ≥ 6
years elapsed is the time you set on the slider, counted from the first deposit.
Assumptions
- The milestone is fixed in the tool at 6 years from the first deposit, as presented in the Keren Hishtalmut guide on this site.
- The tool includes no amounts, returns or tax. It shows time only.
- The exact rules depend on the fund type and your situation, so check them with your fund.
- The slider goes up to 7 years so you can also see what happens after the milestone.
How to read the result
- Move the slider to the time that has passed since your first deposit. The ring fills gradually towards the milestone.
- The card under the clock changes: before the milestone it reminds you that an early withdrawal is usually non-exempt, and after it, it says the period is complete.
- The dot grid shows the same thing month by month: each dot is a monthly deposit.

Frequently asked questions
How long until a Keren Hishtalmut can be withdrawn without tax?
The tool and our guide present a milestone of six years from the first deposit, after which you can withdraw without capital gains tax on the profits, subject to the law's conditions. Other conditions apply in some cases, so check with your fund.
What happens if I withdraw before six years?
You usually pay regular tax on the profits. Before withdrawing, check with the fund what it means in your case.
Does the tool calculate how much I will have in the fund?
No. It shows time only. To see accumulation and the effect of management fees, use the management fee calculator or the compound interest calculator.
How do I find out when my first deposit was?
In the fund's periodic report or by asking the provider. The period is counted from that date.
